What began as our foundation launch has not turned into an annual event. ALF conducts a yearly turkey giveaway in the month of November. In 2021, we were able to give away 100 turkeys. Since then, we have given away 200 turkeys annually to those in need in the Brooklyn Park community. Through the help of our board members and volunteers, we are able to make this special event happen and make a little impact on those who receive a turkey. ALF annually holds our Memoriam and Ice Cream Social in remembrance of Awwal Ladipo. Members of the community come together to release balloons into the air and take a moment of silence to remember our dear and beloved Awwal Ladipo. The main purpose of this event is to bring our community together as one on behalf of the foundation's mission to constantly make a change in the communities that our youth should thrive in and bring awareness to youth violence. The Awwal Ladipo Foundation annually holds our Annual Gala event in April. This event always surprises us as we giveaway numerous scholarships of $1,000  to outstanding students and also raise enough money to hit our financial goal! Thus far we have had wonderful speakers from Representative Esther Agbaje, Mayor Hollies J. Winston, Community Leader Ian Oundo, and Activist Spike Moss. Our gala highlights why youth violence in communities is such an important matter that needs to be focused on and how we as a society regardless of our different neighborhoods, backgrounds, race and cultures can contribute to making a change that we want to see in our communities.
